Title: Possibilities and Limitations of the GlobSol Software Package

Examples will be given to illustrate how problems may be formulated for the GlobSol software package. Not only will these examples illustrate the mechanics of problem formulation, but they will also illustrate types of problems for which GlobSol is practical and types of problems that GlobSol cannot presently do. Future promising development directions will be outlined. These directions promise to lead to more practical algorithms, applicable to larger problems, without sacrificing rigor in the computations.
Brief Biography:
R. Baker Kearfott is one of the leading researchers in interval computations. He is the author of the GlobSol package for solving nonlinear systems and global constrained optimization with automatic verification of the results.
