Title: ABS METHODS AND ABSPACK

We present the main properties of ABS methods for general linear systems (determined, under and overdetermined) and for special classes of linear systems (banded, KT, ND....). We discuss the numerical performance of the package ABSPACK presently under development, comparing it with the performance of LAPACK. On several classes of problems ABS methods perform faster and/or more accurately.
